Download issues?

Since I moved all our products to Google Docs/Drive two people reported that they have issues downloading the PDFs. I have tried figuring out what went wrong, but I am afraid I couldn’t. For me the links work perfectly fine, regardless of whether I am logged on or not or from where I try to access the files.

What I need is your help. Even if you already have downloaded all of our games before, please go the product pages here at Stargazer Games and check if the “Download Now” links work for you. Please use a simple click and don’t righ-click to use “Save link under…”. If everything works fine, you should get to a Google Docs/Drive preview that shows the product in question and allows you to download the file.

If it doesn’t, please give me some feedback in the comments below or on our forums. And check if you have problems with downloading stuff from Google Drive/Docs in general. Thanks for your help!

  1. Opened the Thrilling Noir Stories page in another tab, clicked the link (Didn’t see anything which said “Download Now;” the link was the file title.) and it loaded the PDF into my browser. (Chrome.) No problem here.

  2. Hmm, this game is hosted directly at the site here. Could you try if the Wrm or RAG downloads work for you?

  3. Wanderer’s Romance opened in Google Docs in my browser just fine. And it downloaded as a PDF just fine. I think it may be that Google Docs is sparse in instruction on how to use it, and the persons who had difficulty didn’t see the download button, or thought it only downloaded into Google Docs. And/or they may have trouble opening the files, if they don’t have a Google Docs account.

  4. By Wrm I actually meant WR&M. But downloading AWR actually served the same purpose.
I think someone said he or she was getting a file not found error, which really surprised me. It might be a browser issue.
As long as I don’t have enough information on what actually went wrong it’s hard to solve the issue. That’s why I asked for feedback. Thanks again Chet!

  5. In Oklahoma, on the reservations, there was a name for this kind of error/issue. “Evil White Man Magic.”

  6. I had to sign in to Google accounts to get the doc. But aside from that everything worked fine and lickety split. Thanks.
